Launch of Chi-X Australia Will Pose Multimarket Challenges, Fidessa Says [GC Australia]

The coming launch of Chi-X Australia brings new trading opportunities and is predicated on a desire by regulators to generate greater transparency and better trade prices, but the flip side is that fragmentation brings complexities in finding a common measure for those metrics, according to Fidessa, a provider of high-performance trading, investment management and information solutions.

“Everyone’s got to be a little bit careful in Australia,” says Steve Grob, director of group strategy at Fidessa. “The whole idea of these new regulations is to create greater transparency, greater awareness and a better deal for investors, but this won’t happen overnight. What we have seen elsewhere is that it takes time for everyone to adjust to the new multimarket paradigm, and that it has developed differently in different regions.”
